Glock 17 33 Round - As I opened the plain gray and white blaster package containing a magazine, I took the time to read the company summary on the back of the blaster package. Many words are devoted to the history of Glock firearms. This quote remains:
A Glock 34, high capacity magazine, TruGlo Combat Light and gold dot ammunition are also a good combination.

That's a bold claim that no one—Glock fan or not—can dispute. I have often said that the Glock is the foundation of firearms. Credibility is well established and unquestionable. Glock is undeniably reliable and has been proven in dozens of military, police and administrative tests. If you're spending less than a Glock, the question is, "What corners are cut?" If you're paying more than a Glock, the question is, "What's the point?"
One of the standard Glock accessories is the 9mm round Glock 33 magazine. While there are floorboards and such that add a 19-round magazine, in the Glock 9mm, the 33-round magazine is the granddaddy of them all. This magazine was developed for use in the Glock 18, an automatic version of the 9mm Glock 17 pistol. Unlike many competitors and cheap imitations, the Glock magazine features steel inserts that increase strength and feed.
The magazine is well finished with good quality control proofs. The base bearings are strong enough to withstand a few drops and provide good stability under acceleration loads. I have a few that have been dropped during magazine changes and intensive training, and they are going well. On the back of the magazine are witness holes marked 5 through 31.
Magazines offer a tactical advantage in home defense – especially if the firearm is a modern 9mm carbine such as the Glock magazine-compatible KillTech Sub 2000. The balance does not materially change the balance of the Glock 9mm. If anything, the kit is fixed by inserting the magazine.

The magazine weighs 20 ounces and holds 124 rounds of ammunition. The proper sequence for loading a high-capacity magazine is to load three to four rounds, tap the back of the magazine to fully engage the cartridge case behind the magazine, and continue until the magazine is loaded. When loading the Glock magazine there was strong spring compression at first as it should be. The trash magazine was weak at first and became harder.
Glock is high and going hard. I can load the magazine to about 29 rounds before I need the Blackhawk! Magazine loader. The fact is that the magazine loader makes it easy to start, but most of us - especially young ones younger than me - will have little trouble loading the magazine to its full capacity.
I tested the .33-round Glock magazine in several Glock pistols, shooting at range and even up. The magazine never fails to feed and the gun never fails to feed, place, fire or eject. The ammunition used was a 124-grain Federal Synthetic load - a new payload that I found to be excellent for training use. I practiced a lot with the Glock and enjoyed shooting it.
33-round magazines were loaded for months at a time and appeared to catch fire, even if they were loaded to full capacity. If you want to go with the traditional method of downloading a loop or two, it's fine for long-term use. However, with this magazine I see no need.

The 33-round magazine is fully balanced. It weighs about 20 ounces with a full load of 124 rounds of ammunition.
I often keep this magazine in my Glock at home. A Glock 9mm long slide loaded with spare-dot rounds that offers a 33-round payload is a solid home defender. Few, if any of us, have time to carry a flashlight and extra magazines during nighttime alerts and home invasion teams come in pairs. The 33 round Glock magazine is the best choice for home defense. It's also really fun on the range and that means lots of practice.
