The Glock 43x The Best Of Both Worlds
The Glock 19 is a great piece and one of the best balanced pistols in the world. The Glock 19 and its close variants the Glock 19X and Glock 45 offer excellent control over the reliability and accuracy of the pistol with good ammunition reserves. The Glock 43 is a slim 9mm that offers true concealment with the power of a 9mm but limited capacity.
Glock came out with the Glock 48 9mm. This is what you would call a long slide Glock 43, with a longer grip than the G43, which has a 10 round magazine.
The Glock 48 is also thinner than the Glock 19. The Glock 43X is the standard slide of the Glock 43, but this one has a long grip that holds a 10-round magazine. Each has its place.
The slider is not stainless steel. but nPVD coated silver product. Some like the look, others would prefer an all black Glock. Glock 43Xs have serrations at the front. I'm glad I waited for the Glock 43X pistols with night sights to become available because my gun has a nice set of self-illuminating iron sights with an orange front dot around the radioactive ampoule.

The pistol fits Glock 43 holsters. The Glock 48 requires manufacturers to prepare a longer slide that is thinner than the Glock 19. The Glock 43X deviates slightly from the longer barrel velocity of the Glock 48 and Glock 19, but then it is small and easier to conceal.
The Glock 43 fits in several pockets. 43Ks probably won't fit in pockets, except for big Gut types. There are no handrails and light rails. As a former police officer, I would say the Glock 48 is a good gun to work with. As a reasonable choice, the Glock 43 is a good backup piece, and the 43X is a gun for people who like the 43 but would like to shoot it a little more accurately.
I took the Glock to the range with a good mix of ammo to test its reliability and practical shooting. I drew from the Tuck-It Complete Concealment Kidek inside the belt holster. This company is one of the few that work for the Glock 48. This holster will accept the shorter fine Glock 43Xs.
When doing a quick presentation from concealed carry, the Glock 43X is fast, very fast, and clears the holster quickly. With the short frame of the Glock 43, it is more difficult to quickly confirm a good shot. The Glock 43X offers a better grip when shooting. However, the short slide clears the case just as quickly as the Glock 43.

Before going to the range, I shot the pistol intensively and also practiced draw. The result was good speed and quick shots on target. I drew and shot man-sized targets at 5, 7 and 10 yards. The gun is fast on target and treads well.
The longer grip is an advantage over the standard 43 for target practice. No, it doesn't have the speed and maneuverability of the Glock 19, but it's a good little gun.
The primary load used during initial testing was a Hornady 124-grain HAP practice drill and enough VV 231 powder for 1050 fps. I also ran a multipurpose handload using Hornady's 124-grain KSTP at 1,100 fps. The fuel for this cargo was supplied by Titegroup powder. I used the stock Hornady 115-grain Critical Defense, Hornady 124-grain KSTP +P in the American Gunner line, and Hornady 147-grain KSTP. This included a practice load, a 9mm load with light and heavy bullets, and a heavy load.
The Glock 43X fed, held, fired, and ejected each load without issue. For rapid fire on human-sized targets, an orange dot sight was used for quick hits. As far as scope regulation goes, the gun seemed dead on the money with 115- to 124-grain loads, and the 147-grain load was a bit high.
Glock 43x: Personal Protection Perfection
In terms of recoil, the Glock 43X is a pleasant pistol to shoot. The pistol is lighter and thinner than the Glock 19, so the recoil impulse is higher, but the lighter pistol is more comfortable to shoot than the Glock 43. The 9mm just doesn't pack much, and the Glock 43X is a comfortable pistol to shoot.
Combat accuracy is more practical, but absolute accuracy is always interesting. I shot the pistol from a standing barricade at 15 yards with the Hornady Critical Defense and also the Hornady 147-grain KSTP – firing five rounds from each round. They both settled into groups just under two inches apart. The Glock 43X is accurate enough for any personal defense, reliable, light and a good choice for personal defense.
